I just received a call from California
to tell me that a wonderful giant of a man of God
has slipped from the hands of his family
into the pierced hands of the One he so loved

gathered unto the fathers
we only spent a handful of moments together
but those moments
changed the course of my life
the seeds of those moments
planted hope in places of my heart
that were arid and dry
places where I did not think anything would ever grow again
I give thanks
for the life of this man
54 years on soil and sea
forever now with God
