bent moment

yesterday
I heard a story
about a tree

when still a young tender sapling
a large tree nearby fell on it
causing the sapling to bend

this sapling continued to grow
but bent over

over time
the large fallen tree
rotted through
and fell off

and
once again
this young tree
was able to grow upright

all this made me think of the church
and the things that have fallen on it
causing it to bend

and of myself

the things that have fallen on me

causing me to grow bent over

and the scripture

hope deferred
makes the heart sick

BUT

desire fulfilled
is a tree of life
