nest moment

it is early January
and yet there is a dove building a nest
deep in the evergreen
outside my window

in the natural
this is not the season
for a dove
to be building a nest

is there to be a birthing

in the midst of this winter
or is there to be a sacrifice
in the winds of this unnatural season
